I grew up in NY and have lived in CA for years. I've always said stove -

but I hear range more here. On the other hand, it has seemed as if range

were used more formally, as it were, with appliance stores using it. Kind

of reminded me of commercials using "bathroom tissue" instead of "toilet

paper."
