For one tribe in Panama, it is "knee-high as a blade of grass". One I found listed with several variants was _knee-high to a toad_ and _knee-high to a mosquito_ and _knee-high to a frog_ and _knee-high to a duck_ and even _knee-high to nothing_. I was born in the Chicaog area and spent most of my childhood in the New York City area. The expression for me was always _knee-high to a grasshopper_. My query to anyone interested is: Is this regional or just subject to wild variation? David K. Barnhart Barnhart[AT SYMBOL GOES HERE]Highlands.com
