Subject: Re: contempt vs. content

If _comptroller_ can be pronounced _controller_, one would think that

_contempt_ could be pronounced _content_ (though I still wouldn't want

to pronounce it content, myself). Does anyone know how the first

pair of words came to resemble each other?
