There was an article on this pitch characteristic of Southern English in

_American Speech_ sometime in the very early 1980s. I forget who the

author was. The article was a useful eye-opener for a new sojourner in

Deep Dixie.



By the way, I was heating up some leftovers in the microwave last night at

my mother-in-law's, and I noticed that the Look Out Moon Pies box had a

serving suggestion: place a Moon Pie in the microwave for a few seconds

and eat it warm. It suddenly occurred to me that a s'more was a campfire

version of the classic moon pie.
