Subject: more on had the biscuit

I confess I had never heard "had the biscuit" until now and found the

explanations both fascinating and somewhat disgusting (does that lead us forth

into any connections between "circle jerk," "jerk"--as in, "he's a real jerk"--

and "jerk-off"--as in "he's a real jerk-off"? or would we rather keep it

civilized?)

Anyway, back to the original premise, the expression I have always heard for a

failure or disaster was "had the course" (or perhaps "had the coarse," since I

never actually saw it written out?). Any explanations for the origin of that

somewhat less disgusting (at least that is my fervent hope) alternate?
