The spelling would seem to indicate a high central vowel, while my grandmother (west Georgia) always said it with a schwa in the final syllable. Another of those words of hers I had not idea how to spell until I became a dialectologist. By the way, y'all and others sent too much mail while I was away last weekend and I was "disusered" acc. to the information services guru. Is this in use elsewhere?
