We always used "five-and-ten" (50's and 60's) to mean Woolworth or Kresge's and

sometime we would use the whole phrase in a statement like "That looks like it

came from the five and ten cent store." Perhaps we were influenced by the song

lyrics. (New Jersey and Chicago)
