Date: Wed, 20 Aug 1997 11:39:46 EDT From: Larry Horn Subject: is...is (variation on a theme) A slightly different version, contributed by the mother of three sex-abuse victims commenting on a Texas monsignor's reaction to a verdict awarding $120,000,000 in finding the Catholic diocese in Dallas responsible for failing to stop a priest from abusing a large number of altar boys. Msgr. Robert Rehkemper complained that it was really the boys' parents who were responsible because they had failed to notice the abuse, and therefore must not have been particularly concerned about their children... "You can't even say he's in denial", said Gail Pawlik, the mother of three victims. "It's a profound arrogance, is what we're dealing with." --N.Y. Times, 8/9/97, p. 5
