My two queries: Answering Beverly's post made me think of some other oddities I grew up with--the terms "have a catch" (rather than to play catch, i.e., throw a ball back and forth between two or more people), and a term for calves (of the bovine variety)--"hummies". Any thoughts on the origins of these, anyone? molly
