Subject: Appropriation of derogatory terms

Dear Colleagues-

A student of mine is interested in the appropriation of degrogatory terms
by groups which the terms are used against. An example of this would
be the use of the word <queer> by the homosexual rights group
<Queer Nation>. Can anyone direct us to work which has been done on
this subject? We will, of course, summarize your responses.
