It takes a productive (i.e., non-Beavis-and-Butthead) morphology (at least as

regards -ous) to snicker at Urinous. In some recent work here on trisyllabic

laxing, we have found that lots of so-called productive rules appear not to be

so after all. Looks like lexical representations are winning the day. (E.g.,

divine, divinity; cave, cavity; saline, salinity).
